These paddles are Cosmetic Blems. They are structurally sound and will still do their job! They feel good, perform good and for the most part, before close inspection, look good. Each Blem is different, some contain wood variations such as knots or splinters (these have been smoothed and covered with sealant like the rest of the paddle), surface scratches and/or small wear marks, small varnish bubbles or finish marks, and in some cases irregularities in the wood have been filled with wood filler or epoxy. These blems still look great and their imperfections don’t affect performance at all. They simply do not meet Bending Branches high standards for Top Shelf products. Therefore, you get a great deal on a great paddle!
